Course Structure

• Basic / Intermediate / Advance
• Students learn at their own pace
• 2½-hour lesson, with 4 – 6 students in each class
• One-to-one lessons to be privately arranged
• While lessons are project-driven, each project in the Basic and Intermediate Course has been
  designed and chosen to impart specific skills and technique

Course Fees

• $120 for 4 regular lessons, with allowance for 1 make-up lesson
• One-off lesson at $35 per session
• Beginner’s Starter Kit for Basic Course costs about $95
• Out-of-studio classes
  Minimum of 6 people to start a class
  $150 per person for every 4 regular lessons

• Please notify at least 3 days in advance in the event of absence, failing which class fee for that
  lesson will be forfeited
• Patterns from in-house library may be used at discretion of studio. Copy charges are additional
• Please help support the studio / shop you learn at, and help keep fees affordable by buying in
  house materials

Basic Courses

1. Daisy Introduction to folk art tools and supplies
    Use of round and liner brush, brush loading
    Strokework - comma, S, polliwog, liner work
    Surface Prep - Sanding, Basecoating

2. Folk Rose Tip- / Side- loading of a round brush
    Double loading of round brush
3. Various Background Effects Learn about surface preparation of various surfaces like wood, tin, fabric, glass, candle
    Background effects - Crackling, Marbleizing, Sponging, Gold Leafing / Gilding, Woodgraining, Speckling, Antiquing
4. Country Primitive

Introduction to flat, angle and filbert brush

    Strokework – chisel, broad, S, zig zag, leaf, crescent
    Sideloading of the flat, angle brush
    Various methods to soften floats – mopping, mediums, etc.
5. Fuzzy Teddy Bears Introduction to stippling and deerfoot stippler  
    Gradual blending of colours  
    Choice of painting on wood or fabric
